LAST CALL! Application Now Available: Honors College Representative at the Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program (MCORRP)
Through a generous gift by Dr. Kim Eagle, the Honors College is pleased to offer a paid internship with the Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program (MCORRP). This summer internship program is a 10-week opportunity, starting in the first week of June and concluding in the first week of August at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. 

The internship includes a stipend, as well as a housing and travel allowance. To apply students should be interested in pursuing a career in healthcare and be a strong steward of OSU and the Honors College. Dean and Friends Coffee on Career Development and Transitions – 2/5/20

All Honors College students are invited to a Dean and Friends Coffee on career transitions and development on Wednesday, February 5th at 4:00 p.m. in LInC 360. We are especially pleased to have as our guest Jon DeVaan, a 1985 OSU graduate in mathematics and computer science who gave the OSU commencement address and received an honorary doctorate in 2011. Mr. DeVaan began a career at Microsoft in 1985, serving in a variety of executive and management roles until his retirement in 1999, most notably as senior leader of Microsoft’s Office and Windows businesses. He has been chair of the OSU Foundation Board of Trustees, and he has been recognized with an Alumni Fellow award from the OSU Alumni Association and induction in the Engineering Hall of Fame. Currently, he is working to reduce the corrupting influence of money in American politics; you can explore this work further here. At this coffee, he will discuss his long and diverse career and its transitions. All HC students are invited, but space is limited. Reserve your spot by emailing stollerk@oregonstate.edu.

HCSA Winter Study Break: February 7th Stressed about midterms? Join the HCSA for a study break! Come to the SLUG on Friday, February 7th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Decorate some cookies, eat some snacks, and relieve your stress!

Got midterms coming up?  Study groups are starting this week and are a great way to connect with other peers in classes to compare notes, discuss tough concepts, deepen your understanding, and study for upcoming exams and other assignments! Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship – Apply by Feb. 15
Apply now for scholarships available to OSU students through OSU ScholarDollars, Oregon State University’s online scholarship management system.  The OSU Alumni Association and Community Engagement & Leadership (CEL) are excited to accept applications for the Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship. This fund was dedicated in order to provide scholarships for OSU students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year who are actively involved with activities beyond classwork, demonstrating they are well‐rounded, contributing members of the OSU community.  The Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship Fund will award three (3) students a one-time scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 each.

Do you enjoy reading the Monday Message? The Honors College is looking for a media assistant to focus on compiling and publishing the Monday Message each week. Student Support Services (HC Peer Mentor Program Coordinator): Apply by Feb. 12
Are you looking to get involved with the Honors College? The Honors College is looking for a coordinators to assist with the Peer Mentor Program! The coordinator will work in a team to co-lead the program along with one other coordinator. The Coordinator will have the opportunity to make a difference in the personal development, guidance, and experience of first-year and transfer students, build close relationships with mentors and new students, and develop leadership skills. NEW! Housing Kickoff
Oregon State students who want to lock in priority status for selecting next year’s housing can come to the Housing Kickoff, Tuesday, January 28 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the MU Horizon room. The event is a chance to learn about on-campus apartments, rooms and suites that are reserved for students in their second year of college or above. The first 100 attendees will receive a free Bluetooth speaker. All attendees receive priority housing registration status, free food and the chance to win a $250 gift card to the Beaver Store. Forgot your lunch? Light snacks available in SLUG!
The Honors College has launched a “Forgot your lunch?” station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money, or simply need a snack – please help yourself to this free resource. The resource is self-serving and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area. Need Access to West or Sackett Hall?
All Honors College students can access the West Hall main lounge, and Sackett Hall lounge and conference spaces on the east side of the building. If you live on-campus your OSU student ID has been programmed to allow you access into the Sackett F or E door (those main entrances on the east side of the building near wings F/G and E/H) and the main entrances to West Hall (both the east and west doors). Just place your ID up to the black proxy scanner and the door will unlock. If for some reason your ID is not coded properly request access by completing the survey at https://oregonstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bmcLh4dwiae87YN

Access to West and Sackett common spaces is available Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. These spaces are wonderful if you are looking for a place to meet with your study group, or find a quiet place to spread out.  Use the space frequently as access expires if not used within 3 weeks.  As a reminder, HC study groups and HC academic advising drop-in hours are also available in these spaces.
