Chapter Information

Here is the following biographies for the executive members

Alex Schiedler (President)
•    From: Lake Oswego, OR
•    Major: Political Science and History
•    Join Date: September 2009
•    Why: I felt, at my time of joining, that my ideals were consistent with the fraternity.  I hold myself to high standards, and I am on a mission to constantly better myself, which is something that I have found easy to do in this fraternity.  My perception of the fraternity has changed with as I have grown older, but I have always found strength and love in this fraternity.

Matt Hair (Programming)
•    From: Milton-Freewater, OR
•    Major: Electrical & Computer Engineering
•    Join Date: September 2010
•    Why: Joined SigEp because they didn’t seem like the average fraternity and at first I wasn’t interested in Greek life at all but they convinced me otherwise.

Trevor Scott (Member Development)
•    From: Tillamook, OR
•    Major: Psychology
•    Minor: Chemistry
•    Join Date: September 2010
•    Why: I joined SigEp for a number of reasons. Those reasons have changed since I have found out what it truly means to be a member of this great fraternity. But, when I joined, I knew I could find and make friendships and bonds that would last me the rest of my life. Also, I knew of all of the opportunities that could arise from the house because my older brother is an alumnus from here as well. He taught me a lot about the house and really got me interested.

Jayson Hoffman (Communications)
•    From: Hillsboro, OR
•    Major: Agricultural Business Management
•    Minor: General Agriculture
•    Join Date: September 2010
•    Why: I joined SigEp because my sister is dating a senior now David Grover. He influenced me to join this fraternity. Once I talked to Ricky Egger and Austin Rondema I knew that my main ideals and the fraternities were the same. This fraternity has taught me more than any organization can. I am very happy that my sister’s boyfriend asked me to join.
Eric Steensen (Philanthropy)
•    From: Bend, OR
•    Major: Exercise and Sport Science w/ a Pre-med option
•    Join Date: September 2010
•    Why: I was looking for the ultimate college experience and an opportunity to become more involved on campus. I was offered bids by several houses, but SigEp seemed to be the house that would push me further in my development than any of the others.
•    Legacy: No

Brice Wayne Plouse (Chaplin)
•    From: Springfield, OR
•    Major: Civil Engineering
•    Minor: Environmental Engineering and Business Administration & Entrepreneurship
•    Join Date: September 2007
•    Why: At first I was only interesting in the fraternity to hopefully receive that the Balanced Man Scholarship offered to graduate senior men.  I admit that at first I was quite against the American fraternity due to social norms, but after a few visits and discussions with Connor McNay and Dallas Gerritz, the current Recruitment Chairs at the time, I was determined to find out more about this fraternity and Oregon Alpha Brotherhood.  I attended a few summer recruitment events and after meeting a few summer signs, I decided that this was the place that I wanted to develop and create myself as a scholar and balanced man.  I moved in that fall and haven’t looked back.

Pat Steers (Finance)
•    From: Beaverton, OR
•    Major: Finance and Accounting
•    Join Date: September 2008
•    Why: I joined Sigma Phi Epsilon because I liked the way it stood out from other fraternities. My brother was in the class of 2005, but he wanted to make sure I didn’t join just because of him, so I checked out other houses on campus. After doing this, I realized that SigEp was the only house for me. I like the high standards that the house stands for, and an overall great connection with the general membership

Jake Gerard (Recruitment)
•    From: Beaverton, OR
•    Major: Construction Engineering Management
•    Join Date: September 2010
•    Why: I joined Sigma Phi Epsilon because it was a place that I felt I could legitimately grow and be respected for who I am. There was something different about Sig Ep that really drew me in when I met the Recruitment guys. They went about everything differently than all of the other houses and I respected them for that. This fraternity to me is different, but not just to be different but because we are constantly trying to grow and become better rather than just stagnating like most fraternities do

Sigma Phi Epsilon SigEp Sweetheart Philanthropy

The Sigma Phi Epsilon Oregon Alpha fraternity invited many sororities to participate in the Sweethearts philanthropy in hopes to raise money to donate to Habitat for Humanity. The week of the philanthropy consisted of a sorority chant of, a date auction, quad check-ins, and a dodgeball tournament at McAlexander Fieldhouse. For the date auction, multiple SigEp groups were formed and auctioned off to the women of Greek life. In return for purchasing a group, the men will be taking the women on a variety of activities such as snowboarding, hiking, a night on the town in limousines, and other various trips.  The top sellers of the auction, at $650 dollars each, were the two groups taking the women to a night on the town with transportation and the third place group, at $500, will be taking four lucky ladies to Mt. Hood to go snowboarding. In the dodgeball tournament, 16 sorority teams participated in a fierce competition. By the end, with a record of 4-0, Kappa Alpha Theta emerged as the victor. The overall winner of the philanthropy was Alpha Chi Omega, contributing $1400 to the overall money that was raised.  This was the most successful Sweethearts philanthropy that SigEp has hosted, raising over $4,000 that was donated to a good cause. Hundreds of sorority members participated and say that the philanthropy should continue for years to come.
