November 12, 2015, HMSC Safety Awareness Forum Notes

Automobile Accident Reporting: Appropriate forms, including the Auto Accident Report Form and the Oregon Traffic Accident & Insurance Report, are to be kept in each OSU-owned vehicle. Reporting is required for any accident; the Risk Management website page that details those requirements is: http://risk.oregonstate.edu/claims/vehicles

Clery Act Reporting: The background and reporting requirements for this legislation were briefly discussed, and it was agreed that we’d accept Michele Spaulding’s offer for OSU Compliance Officers to join us at the December 10 SAF meeting. Campus Security Authorities (CSA) have been chosen based on their role with students, or within the University; some individuals have already received information about CSA training.

Campus Housing: There are approximately 30 students in housing at this time; some are with the Community College’s Aquarium Science Program.

Tsunami Drill: There was a good turnout from faculty and staff. However, few students participated. A suggestion was made that an evening drill to the hill should be done each semester, possibly followed by HMSC-sponsored pizza, for the students.

First Aid & CPR Training: The recent training for MBP personnel, grad students and US Fish & Wildlife personnel was successful.

Orientation Brochure: A near-final copy was distributed, with a request for edits, additions, and/or corrections. There was brief discussion re sources for fieldwork guides or training information for inclusion.

Additional topics included activities at the boat yard and along the beach, as well as greenhouse repair options.

Attending: Bob Miller, Mary Markland, Florence van Tulder, Jeff Wiseman, Kathy Minta, Greg Hutchinson, Dave Jacobson, Colleen Newberg, Patty George, Itchung Cheung, Carol Cole
