Happy Friday! A happy one for me indeed, as I look through the photos of last weekend’s All-HMSC Reunion on April 10-12, 2015. It was truly a joy to meet and visit with all who attended, and to see you catch up with each other after (insert appropriate # here) years. HMSC Director Bob Cowen and I, along with the current faculty, students and staff, were honored to host this event and astounded by the turnout and the enthusiasm of all who attended. Even those who could not attend sent their remembrances, photos and good wishes. From the earliest planning (with Margy and Dave Buchanan over Tyee wine, of course) through to the follow-up photos and emails I have been receiving this week, this Reunion has been a powerful and meaningful experience for me; it has deepened my connection to and appreciation for the Marine Science Center and my excitement for the future. I thank you all for the privilege.
I still have some digging out to do, so please be patient as I organize photos for your enjoyment. Here are a bunch to get started on, and feel free to send me more. Also, don’t hesitate to use me as a go-between if there is an email address you need – I am happy to forward your message on to the person you would like to contact.
A tremendous thank you to so many – it was certainly a team effort. Our special appreciation goes to Peter Rothlisberg, our Plenary speaker, and to the Guin Library and SCARC (Special Collections and Archives Research Center) staff – we will be making Peter’s talk and SCARC’s video available as soon as we can. Many, many thanks to our generous All-HMSC Reunion sponsors: Tyee Wine Cellars, Rogue Ales, Local Ocean Seafoods, Oregon Oyster Farms, the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Cheesecakes by Jeff Wiseman and the Elizabeth Street Inn. Our Facilities and IT staff were indispensable on this busy weekend, as were Kristina McCann, Paul Tate and our many volunteers.
