Cher started her career in technology in the area of motherboards and personal computers (PC’s). Not long into her career she switched directions and pushed for smart phones and tablets. Smart phones have been the item that has generated the most money and fame for Cher Wang. While Cher still considers smart phones to be at a very young stage they seem to have increased her net worth and HTC’s name substantially. Smart phones are sold to Americans everyday at every cell phone carrier. You cannot walk into an AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile store without a sales rep trying to sell you on the latest model. Smart phones allow users to schedule meetings, surf the web, play games, download apps, check the weather, listen to music, and so many other things. The time where people used their cellular phone just to talk or text is in the past. Now smart phones allow us to video chat with others, run a business, take credit card payments, etc.
Cher has not only designed and manufactured smart phones for customers she has also made a difference in the way people live their lives. With the technological advances made in cell phone technology people are able to do things that previously were not possible. Being able to use a phone for things other than talking has changed the way most Americans do business and live their lives. Tablets have evolved and are easier to carry then a laptop. All of these changes impact billions of people throughout the world.
When HTC was created they designed and manufactured smart phones under other companies names such as Verizon. However in 2006 HTC begin selling smart phones and devices under their own name. Currently they have phones and devices that are marketed under their own brand that are powered by Android and Window’s phone operating systems.
