Season II

Season 2!

I’m so happy to be back. I can’t explain how amazing it feels to come back to a place that I knew realistically I’d never see again.

At the Antarctic Centre in Christchurch, New Zealand, getting “breakfast” (at 3:00 am), waiting for take off (which was scheduled at 6:00 am), and taking photos!

United States Antarctic Program Passenger Terminal

Markus, Rachel, and I finally aboard the C-17, ready for takeoff!

Upstairs in the cockpit with the Antarctic pilots!

View out of one of the two available windows in the C-17.

And we have landed at Pegasus Field. Welcome back to Antarctica!

All smiles after our first steps on the ice.

New to the program this year is the”Kress”, the vehicle that transported us from Pegasus to “town” (McMurdo Station). Typically you’re transported from the sea ice runway via “Ivan” the Terra bus (I have photos of Ivan from last season if anyone is interested in scrolling back to last year to check it out).
