The Makings of a Great Manager
Out of the Fortune 100 best companies to work for there were so many options to pick from. While looking through i tried to look for big corporations because these are usually the companies that I hear do not always treat their employees with respect and dignity. However after reading through the lectures this week and learning what it means to be good in HR i found that the companies below are actually amazing in their class.
The First company chose to write about was Delta Air lines. This company practices HR techniques in many ways, these include keep the employees engaged and happy with the company and themselves. Delta practices HR by providing great benefits to their employees, having a good company culture, having a good workforce, as well as by providing a family like sense of community to their employees. Also according to Great Place to Work, 87% of all employees working for this company are happy.
Another great company that I was surprised about was farmers insurance. They are a highly respected insurance that is known and used nation wide. As of July 22 all employees working here said that they were satisfied with there benefits and they way they were treated. One of the highest ranking thing from employees is that they were made to feel welcome right when they started working. As we learned in week one through the lectures creating an open arms environment is very important to a companies success.
The last company I wanted to look into was Progressive. I did this because i wanted to compare what employees said about the company compared to farmers insurance. I feel it can be very beneficial to look at two very similar companies and see what their employees say about HR to see why they are growing so much. Progressive said Instead of “accepting” everyone for who they are, they embrace everyone’s differences. I feel this is very important this is extremely important because in this weeks lecture we learned how it was important to find what peoples strengths are and help lead them in that direction. Progressive also had a 89% satisfaction rate between employees in the company.
