The Large Hadron Collider – Beauty Experiment

We’ve mentioned the LHC in the past, and talked briefly about how it can’t end the world like some people fear.

Last year they had to shut down, and didn’t really get any experimentation done. But now they’ve finally got it running. And they’ve put together this really cool video about it, and something they call the “Beauty Experiment.” Give it a watch:

LHCb: “The quest for antimatter.”

They say it’s taken thousands of scientists and engineers over 20 years to design and construct the Large Hadron Collider. It’s pretty cool to think about how many kinds of engineering went into this–and how many different minds from how many different countries were involved. Try to name at least 5 kinds of engineers who would have worked on this. I’ll bet you there are a lot more than that!
