As a graduate student in Natural Resources, I have been fascinated to learn and explore the role of fire in forest management and forest health. After the unprecedented and devastating fire occurred in Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the town of Gatlinburg TN, in 2016, I provoked to learn as much as possible about the science of fire ecology. In doing so, I have discovered GISciences play an integral part in the analysis of the potential for fire in certain regions based on fuels loads and fuel types, the analysis of fire severity post-fire, and to evaluate population changes in fire associated plants. This is an annotated bibliography of scientific research in the field of fire ecology while utilizing the GISciences.
