Frontiers in Metrology Techniques for Magnetic Nanodevices

About the Workshop:

The goal of the workshop is to bring industry, academia and equipment manufacturers together to discuss and identify critical measurement needs for magnetic nanotechnologies, based on phenomena such as spin-orbit torque, spin-transfer torque and spin-hall effect. The workshop will include presentations on characterization challenges currently faced by the industry and relevant advanced techniques being developed in solution to these challenges. The workshop categorically does not aim to provide a review of techniques in present use but rather to focus on future needs and novel approaches. Anticipated outcomes of the workshop include exposure to advanced techniques currently under development; identification of measurement techniques that may be pursued by universities, national laboratories and/or equipment manufacturers; fostering a collaborative network within the magnetic device research community; and examining the possibility of creating a consortium to fund high priority needs.

The speakers are by invitation only and chosen internationally from leading industry players, government and university laboratories, and equipment vendors. The workshop programme can be downloaded here. To register for the workshop and reserve your hotel room, please find the appropriate links below.

The registration fee is $125 (until June 28, 2017; and $160 thereafter until July 22, 2017). The fee covers breakfast, lunch and banquet on day 1; and breakfast and lunch on day 2 of the workshop.

Note:  You will be prompted to set up a registration account prior to completing registration. Payment will only be accepted via online credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover) at the time or registration, or you may select pay by check if you wish to send a check for payment.

Cancellation requests must be made in writing to conferences@oregonstate.edu two (2) weeks prior to the start of the conference. Cancellation requests received by that time will receive a refund of registration fees minus a $50.00 administrative fee. Substitutions may be allowed. Please contact the conference organizers for approval.

Presentation Guidelines for the Speakers:

Each presentation will be allowed 35 minutes and an additional 10 minutes for questions and discussion. The allocated time will be strictly observed. As the goal of the workshop is to discuss new metrology ideas, we strongly advise you to limit discussion of prior results to no more than 5-8 minutes and only if necessary to introduce the problem or new measurement technique. Your presentation MUST conclude with a slide titled “Discussion Points” wherein you are encouraged to include thought-provoking questions that facilitate a robust discussion and participation from the attendees.

To ensure confidentiality of your unpublished work as well as to encourage an open and meaningful discussion, recording of any kind during presentations will be disallowed.
