Being Interviewed

I have participated in many interviews, weather they are for part-time jobs to get me through high-school and college or internship/careers that tend to be more professional and serious. On thing that has always made an interview more effective for the interviewee and I is the level of comfort establish from a first impression, questions asked and the responses given. I have two interviews specifically in mind which were both companies of similar size and scope. One interview I was greeted like a friend would greet you meeting for coffee where the other it felt like I was competing for the company’s attention. During the first mentioned interview, the experience felt more like a conversation where both parties were interested in the other. Through this, the interviewee learned more about me and I also learned so much more about the company value’s as a whole. In the second interview, I was very quickly and formally introduced to each of the members present and then a list of questions were asked, non building off the previous. I tried to continue conversations over by connecting my answers to the last, but without fail, the interviewee stuck to a seemingly rigid script. While walking out of both experiences, I felt good about my performance as I always have taken interviews seriously and would describe myself to be pretty damn good at them too. However, if both companies were to offer me a job I would ten times out of ten accept the first mentioned interview. Feeling valued before even being offered a job is something I think is so important to obtain valuable assets into a company, especially when your candidates are usually interviewing with multiple companies.
