In this week’s issue:
2016 Commencement Ceremony Human Interest Story Submission
Do you know of a Beaver who is graduating this year? President Ray includes 2-3 human interest stories of personal achievement to highlight during the commencement activities. We are always looking of ways to elevate Extension’s presence. If you’re aware of an interesting story, please let Jill Wells know and she will assist you with the nomination process.
Examples of an interesting story happening in your county/region:
- A graduating senior who was first introduced to Oregon State through 4-H.
- A Master Gardener or family member graduating this year.
- Someone who may have found their passion through an Extension program that lead them to pursue that field of study at OSU.
Even if the story is not chosen for Commencement, it is still a story we would like to share. We have a lot to celebrate!
Submissions are due Wednesday, May 11 by 5pm.

Ready for a May Challenge?
We’ve all heard it: Sitting is the New Smoking
Researchers have found we are sitting ourselves to death.
It’s estimated that people spend about 35-50% of their working hours in meetings. Here’s a healthy challenge for you… In the month of May, look at your meetings and try to make just 20% (1 in 5) walking meetings. Keep a pair of walking shoes at your desk and encourage the colleagues you’re meeting with to do the same.
Need some quick inspiration to take the plunge? Check out this TED talk under 4 minutes.
Going to give it a try? Let email@example.com know how it’s going. Your story can inspire others or help folks troubleshoot making this practice stick.
