There are four categories for proposals:

  1. Program Seminars (peer reviewed)
  2. Competency-Building Workshops (peer reviewed)
  3. Refereed Posters (peer reviewed)
  4. Poster to Share with Peers (no peer review)

Submissions should include the Cover Page and the Abstract or Proposal. The RFP has details on each category, proposal guidelines, and selection criteria.

DUE DATE: August 18, 2017
RFP and Cover Page available at: http://oregonstate.edu/dept/osuea/overall-conference-information

Not sure what to present? Think about a program you do really well or a skill that you have. Chances are the rest of the state doesn’t know about it. You also could recruit some colleagues and put together a group presentation with multiple perspectives.

Here are some topics that are frequently requested by conference attendees:

  • Novel uses of technology in Extension programs
  • Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice
  • Innovative Cross-Program Efforts and Initiatives
  • Assessing Needs, Conducting Evaluation, and Reporting Impact
  • Community Development and Engagement
  • Best Practices for Teaching and Engaging Learners
  • Strategies for Recruiting and Retaining Volunteers

Keep in mind that this is conference is for all program areas, and all kinds of staff. Make sure your proposal explains why this is the best conference to present your presentation.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: O&E Leadership Development Program for Executives

Cooperator Nominations Due October 15, 2015

Each year, OSUEA and ESP honor individuals and businesses who have made significant contributions to Extension programs. It is through these Cooperators that Extension is able to accomplish so much. To eliminate duplication of efforts, OSUEA has partnered with our ESP affiliate. The deadline for nominations this year is October 15, 2015.

OSUEA Cooperator of the year program has three categories:

  • Individuals with fewer than 10 years of service
  • Individuals with 10 years or more of service and
  • Businesses or Organizations (no time limit).

ESP Friend of Extension Award is the highest recognition presented by an Epsilon Sigma Phi chapter to a non-Extension (lay) person, company, organization or elected official and is designed to recognize truly outstanding support and personal involvement in Extension efforts. The Friend of Extension Award, sponsored by ESP, is open to any non-Extension person, company or organization that has demonstrated outstanding support and involvement in Extension efforts. Past Cooperator Award Winners who have continued to serve and contribute are eligible to be nominated as well. The winner of this award will be nominated for the National ESP Friend of Extension Award.

Take time now with your staff to nominate someone. (OSU Employees are not eligible for this award). The recognition and honor of being named a “2015 OSU Extension Service Cooperator” is a small reward for the time, energy, and dedication a volunteer gives. Every program area in every county, and statewide, has several individuals and businesses who are “you can count on” Cooperators. Now is the time to nominate them for this recognition.
Nomination procedures

Administrators, specialists, agents, and support staff discusses potential nominees for one or more categories.

Prepare a nomination. (see application attachment)

Send in the nomination by October 15. Send nominations electronically to: John.Williams.1@oregonstate.edu.

Continuing this year is the award participation fee (see attached policy)

If you have questions, please feel free to contact John Williams (541-426-3143) or Darrin Walenta (541-963-1010), co-chairs of the OSUEA Cooperator program or Mike Knutz ESP Awards Committee Chair. 503-434-8913.

The nomination form and criteria can also be found on the OSUEA website: http://oregonstate.edu/dept/osuea/cooperator-awards

Annual Conference Bowling Night!

The Memorial Union Bowling Room is reserved from 7pm-9:30pm so we will have plenty of time to play and celebrate the winners.

Going with tradition, there will be water, soda and PIZZA! Last year we had Domino’s and they now have a gluten free crust for those that cannot eat wheat. A variety of pizzas will be ordered. Suggestions of pizzas could be sent to donita.rosboro@oegonstate.edu.

The cost will be $12.00 per person for those bowling and eating, $7.00 those who just want to bowl, and $5.00 for those who want to just eat. Please bring cash or a check with you that evening.

Donita has collected some of the trophies from last year’s competition. If anyone has not relinquished their trophy, please let her know!!! She would like to collect them before conference. As heartbreaking as it may be, it will be up to you and your team to WIN THEM BACK!!

Yogi and Elvira Alvarez, Marion Co Ext, have agreed to help out, but if there is anyone else that would like to help, please let Donita know.

Annual Conference Registration will start sooner than you know! Please RSVP to Donita your team name and players, for an estimate head count ahead of time.

Have you considered a study leave as part of your professional development plan?

Study leave time is available annually to OSU Extension faculty members for course work, workshops, short courses, study tours, language immersion or other kinds of professional development opportunities. Salary and OPE remain at the current rate for the length of the leave if the policy is followed. Up to six weeks of study leave may be granted annually, the first three weeks (15 working days) of which can be taken with no loss of personal vacation days. Vacation time must be used for the number of study leave days taken beyond the first three weeks, up to the maximum of six weeks. Full policy is available under Human Resources at http://extension.oregonstate.edu/employees/supervisor-resources/policies-procedures. Study leave requires full approval of the immediate supervisor and program leader.

Two RAs have recently taken, or are about to take, study leave to enhance their skills and abilities. During July 2015 Patrick Proden focused on the development and design of an “Urban Guide” in partnership with the Kettering Foundation (Dayton , OH), University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the Center for Public Life at Syracuse University. His study travels also included interactions with colleagues in Seattle, Kentucky and Georgia. Mary Corp will leave on October 9 for China, where she will visit Beijing, Kaifeng, Shengzhou and Tianjin. Her objectives are 1) to investigate and learn about China’s Extension services, their organizational structure and current strengths and challenges, and 2) immersion in the Chinese culture by traveling with Dr. Wei Dong, a Chinese national scientist who worked for OSU as a post doc in Hermiston.
