April 2017 Journal of Extension

The April 2017 issue of Journal of Extension is now available online on the JOE website at www.joe.org.

Congratulations to Kathy Gunter, Patrick Abi Nader, Amanda Armington, John Hicks, and Deborah John for their Feature article describing the evaluation of the BEPA (Balanced Energy Physical Activity) Toolkit, which is used to promote physical activity and obesity prevention in SNAP-Ed settings. Their evaluation found that children’s regular exposure to the toolkit (as measured by teachers’ reports) was associated with greater levels of children’s physical activity (as measured objectively using pedometers). – As reported by Marc Braverman.

Featuring Dana Sanchez and Nicole Strong

Note from Kym Pokorny: This story about bird nesting boxes with Dana Sanchez and Nicole Strong as sources was picked up by USA Today. That’s the first time a gardening story has shown up in such a high-profile national newspaper. Congratulations to Dana and Nicole for providing such compelling information.
