The Oregon State University ESGP Group is hosting a beach clean-up in Newport. We will be starting at Don Davis Park (Ocean Shores State Recreation Site) and walking toward the North Jetty.
Gloves and trash bags will be provided. Feel free to bring your own supplies such as drinking water and any gear for all weather!
Please be aware that we are going to be practicing all COVID-19 regulations. Please bring a face covering (not provided on site) and review all local and Oregon State University regulations before the event. There is a maximum limit of 10 volunteers.

The primary goal of the AAHHE Graduate Student Fellowship Program is to prepare Latina/o/x doctoral scholars for successful careers in academia. The program also provides support to Latina/o/x scholars interested in pursuing careers within administration and policy in postsecondary education. Towards this end, program sub-goals include to: +Provide strategies to assist scholars in achieving their educational and professional goals +Provide constructive feedback on graduate student fellows’ research +Build community and network with other Latina/o/x scholars
Eligibility
To be considered for the GSFP applicants must: +Be a Hispanic and/or Latina/o/x enrolled in a doctoral program +Aspire to enter postsecondary professoriate and/or administration +Exhibit a track record of service to the Hispanic and/or Latina/o/x community

Professional development award for master’s and doctoral students
Need a way to help pay for professional development activities? Apply for up to a $500 reimbursement to cover expenses from a training or other resource you are using to boost your skills. The $500 amount is up from $250 we offered last year and starts Oct. 1.
Students may receive up to three Professional Development Awards per academic year. Recipients must be enrolled in a master’s or doctoral degree program, with a minimum registration of three graduate credits during the term of the proposed activity.
Benefits open enrollment notice for graduate employees and graduate fellows
October is open enrollment month! This is your once-a-year opportunity to make changes to your health insurance without having a qualifying life event (marriage, birth, divorce, loss of other insurance, etc.). Open enrollment is not mandatory for the grad health plan, and you only need to submit forms if you plan to enroll a dependent or terminate a dependent’s coverage. However, new graduate fellows must submit an enrollment form during October to enroll yourself and any dependents.
If you had an approved waiver during the 2019-2020 school year and had opted out of coverage, you must resubmit a waiver application and documentation to be approved for the 2020-2021 school year.

Delson Bridge to the Future Fund The Delson Bridge to the Future Fund assists domestic and international graduate students in the final phase of their graduate education to pay research expenses, publication costs, and other incidentals standing in the way of completing their graduate studies at OSU. Awards up to $1,000!
Jesse M. Bell Memorial Graduate Student Loan The Jesse M. Bell Memorial Graduate Student Loan provides loans for meritorious graduate students. These non-need-based loans, up to $5,000, are available on a one-time basis to domestic and international enrolled graduate students to help with educational expenses associated with their advanced degree.
Center for Teaching and Learning: Tuesday Teaching Plus Tech Talks CTL has announced a fully remote Tuesday Teaching +Tech Talks (T4). T4 is a certificated series of interactive teaching workshops that introduce a wide range of pedagogical techniques and educational technology. T4 is open to all. Supporting all teaching modalities, sessions are held via Zoom every Tuesday, 10 to 11:50 a.m. Recordings will follow. Registration is not necessary. Attend one, some, or all.

Commercialization funding available
The OSU Advantage Accelerator is seeking proposals for projects that further develop technologies invented by OSU faculty, staff, and/or graduate students in any research discipline (i.e., ag science, pharmacy, vet med, education, public health, engineering, forestry, earth, ocean, atmospheric science, etc.). Proposals should indicate how the project will move the technology closer to commercialization and will be accepted now through Wednesday, September 23.
Each project may be awarded up to $15,000 and should span 9 months or less, beginning October 2020.
Funding can be used to fund student time, gather additional data, pay for prototyping expenses (materials and supplies), customer discovery, and more. Award recipients are required to participate in the OSU Accelerate program in order to receive training and guidance with respect to tech commercialization. Successful projects are eligible to receive additional funding. Read the full RFP.

Graduate School office reopens two days a week for student visitors
The Graduate School office has walk-in hours 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Heckart Lodge for fall term starting September 23. Writing groups for fall term
As a member of a graduate writing group, you will spend an hour each week with professionals from the Graduate Writing Center. Activities for each week vary based on students’ needs, but are limited to: guided peer review of your own writing, guided peer review of published writing from your discipline and individual writing time.

CAPS single session clinic for graduate students
Meet with a counselor for a one-time only session to discuss a current problem or concern. The counselor will help you clarify your problem and work with you to develop skills and strategies to create a personalized action plan. Blocks of time are reserved for grad students, Thursdays 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and Fridays 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Grad students can schedule for any available appointment throughout the week, but these blocks of time are reserved only for them.
