WEEK 10

This week we got to present our inspirational posters to the class. There were little to no guide lines on what todo for the posters except that you had to portray something in regards to the problem/ solution. It was cool to see everyones work come together. I was very intrigued to see the different ways that each of us “designers” went about showing our product. Some like myself did a mood/concept board while others did advertisements for a space. A few students also creates displays using videos and live footage.

I really enjoyed this project and I wish we could have been able to reviewer our peers process papers!

WEEK 9

This week we are finalizing our final project presentation. I am working on my poster. One of the readings this week was in correlation to the important parts to include in posters. There were a lot of cool points and posters to pull inspiration from. I think the best way I can really display and explain my concept of my designs will be through imagery and a line plan. I am excited to show off my work from the last 10 weeks come next Monday.

WEEK 8

This week in class we focused on using different methods to test our prototype, refine it and get feedback. I found the feedback to be affective to a point. After working with the same classmates to close to 8 weeks, I found that many of us are burnt out on our ideas and each others. We have become so invested in each others projects that I feel like were are essentially apart of each project. I found the most usefully feedback on my prototypes from those outside my class. Eyes that haven’t seen the process of my line. Getting outsider from my friends and roomate have helped me really define the finishing touches and refining my idea of my sustainable line.

This weeks cards are inspired by the main points of the required readings.

WEEK 7

This week in DSGN 341 we focused on the beginning steps of prototyping. We tried different methods like acting them out, drawing them and also creating very simple mock ups with the supplies we had in the room.

I find this portion of the project to be most difficult for me personally. I lack the physical and creative skills. In relation to the real world and my career, I aim to be a Product Line Manager. I know that these skills I am learning and perfecting will help me better understand the design process and prototyping building stages that the creative designer go through out.

WEEK 6

This week we focused on brainstorming for our prototype. It was interesting to see that our first idea of how we thought we would build our project is no where close to our ideas now. I guess it goes to show the power of constantly challenging ourselves and continuing in asking ourselves the same questions over and over again. The process is draining but the work is begging to show off.

In DSGN330 we are working on another design brief . I choose to stay with my same concept of a sustainable athletic line. It has been a challenge to combine both classes of ideas but I really like where I have taken my line. I am excited to see the final project.

This weeks cards are inspired the readings and concepts from week 6.

WEEK 5

This week I focused on finishing my Insight’s Project. It was cool to see all the assignments and work we have put in the last few weeks all come together. I believe that learning to create a design brief is crucial for my future as a merchandiser. We also worked on asking questions and answering them from different perspectives. Overall, week 5 was a lot of work but will pay off in the end.

WEEK 4

This week was particularly hard for me. I was out of town for job shadow and interview. As I near graduation, I find it hard for me to want to focus on small, busy work tasks like this when I have my capstone and other life changing decsions to make regarding my career development. This week’s readings were not as engaging to me as they usually are. My cards this week reflect the main points from the following readings.

WEEK 3

This past week we focused a lot on empathy. Although this was a word that we hear quiet often, I am not sure how much time I have taken and actually practice true “empathy”. I implimented this idea while I continued to interview different studetns for our empahty project. I tried really hard to ask compelling questions regarding why they said what they said. I focused on listening to thier tone, gestures and surroundings to gain more insight on who they really are.

WEEK 2

Week 2 reflection….This week was eye opening. While I am still getting fully immersed into this course and trying to understand the idea of “design thinking”, I have been inspired by the readings and ted talks from this week. One of my favorite quotes was “light one candle with another.” I really like how Chapter 3 Improvising and Limitations dove into the idea of lowlight may spread without its original source being diminished. I feel like this example is applicable to all aspects of my daily life.

WEEK 1

Week 1.

To be honest, I had no idea what this course would be about and until I really dove into the readings and texts, I slowly have begun to understand more about “Design Thinking.” To be compelety real with myself, the first brainstorming activity we did completing the entire deisgn process really put me on edge. These activies and process are out of my fimilarity, took way to long , and are more or less out of my educational intrestest. However, the readings and documentaries from this week were eye opening and I was able to grasp more of a real world look into the implementation of the “thinking processes” we have disccussed.

I am not much of an artist, so I believe that most of my cards each week will be used to display the touching, most important ideas that stood out to me each week. Writting them out helps implement them into my brain. I have found that creating these cards help me organzie my thoughts and main ideas from each week.
