Congratulations to the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences on earning the bronze-level Green Office Certification! The Oregon State Environmental Sciences Club tackled the Green Office Certification survey as a club project, on behalf of CEOAS. Thank you to the many members of the Environmental Sciences Club that contributed to gathering and inputting data for the CEOAS Green Office Certification survey. Completing the survey as a club or any sort of group is an excellent strategy, because each member can dedicate their time to investigating a certain area of the building/office practices, turning the process into a sustainability scavenger hunt!
We dropped by the Environmental Sciences Club meeting in order to provide the official award, a sustainability tips poster, and their celebratory Benny’s Donuts! As we spoke to the club about their experience with the GOC program and their vision for CEOAS, we were thrilled to hear that the GOC survey has inspired them to continue furthering sustainability efforts at CEOAS. The club has created a grant proposal to generate funds so that they can purchase a dishwasher, which would help CEOAS staff, faculty, and students implement re-usable plates and silverware! They are also planning to collaborate with the Sustainability Office to distribute sustainability outreach materials throughout CEOAS. Lastly, we are providing high efficiency light bulbs for any CEOAS faculty/staff that want to ditch their incandescent bulbs!
Thanks again to the Environmental Sciences Club and congratulations to CEOAS!
