This week’s Staff Spotlight features Ian King.

Ian King showing off all the surplus he gets to sort through.

Who: Ian King, a Student Worker for Surplus for the last 3 months.

What he does here:
I mainly work in receiving where I help manage what comes in from all around campus and decide whether it gets sold at the store, recycled, or trashed. I also cashier on sale days and go on surplus pick-ups.

One fave thing about his job:
Seeing all the cool stuff that comes through, like really old technology. The other day we got one of the first Apple computers.

If he could improve one thing about waste reduction at OSU:
More student involvement and a change in the mindset that recycling and waste reduction is a chore.

This post is part of the”Recycling/Surplus Staff Spotlight” blog series, which showcases staff from Campus Recycling and Surplus Property and will run regularly during the summer. Tune in throughout the summer for more.
