Thank you all for helping promote the first-annual Oregon Drive Less Challenge! We not only surpassed our local goal of eliminating 78,000 single-occupant-vehicle miles Oct. 21 – Nov. 1, but we also surpassed the statewide goal of eliminating a half million miles. In Linn, Benton and Lincoln Counties, we eliminated 96,488 miles during the Challenge. Statewide, we eliminated 913,664 miles! Those bike trips, carpool commutes, bus rides, and walking trips really added up.

Here is a final recap of all the local winners. For those of you waiting for the grand prize winners to be announced, unfortunately none of them were in our region. However, we did have a LOT of other local winners, which is great! All of these winners have already been contacted.

  • Erik of ODFW won a Kindle Fire Tablet
  • Kathy of Hewlett Packard, Amy who works for the City of Corvallis, and Stephanie of OSU each took home a $50 cash card
  • Toby, who works for Benton County, won a $150 REI gift card
  • Debbie of Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments won a $200 skate shop gift card

o   Funds for these prizes were made possible by statewide campaign sponsorships from Wells Fargo and Bike Friday

  • Theresa of Samaritan Health Services and Joe from the EPA took home $10 gift cards to McMenamins
  • Cheri who works for Nirsa, Carol who works for Woodstocks Pizza, Terri of Corvallis, and Michael who works for CH2M Hill took home a free treat from Francesco’s Gelato
  • Dan from Samaritan Health Services and Larina from Linn Benton Community College each won 2 free admissions to the Oregon Coast Aquarium
  • Tiffany of OSU, Troy who works for the City of Albany, and Julio who works for Garmin each won a free e-book from Audible.com
