Each summer, all the staff in Finance and Administration and their families come together for a luau in nearby Avery Park, a casual event that gives our staff a chance to meet people across our different units and get to know each other better. Starting in 2009, Campus Recycling began collecting compost at the event. Each year, a few staff members volunteer to help cover a recycle station to help people sort.

Bonnie Tufts of PaCS helps an attendee compost her plate.

This year we composted and recycled 261 lbs, or 519 gallons of material! If you imagine a 13-gallon flip-top kitchen trash bin, the amount of material we diverted from the landfill would fill that bin 40 times!

Mahalo to our volunteers and attendees!
