cold brew.

Another Monday. Another day that I have a lack of sleep. Being up until 2am and having to start off a Monday morning early is not ideal when you have 5 homework assignments due that night. This only calls for one thing… The cold brew! Very rarely do I call upon the #coldbrew, but in a time of need and a time of tiredness this was the day I needed it most.

Being away on a trip with soccer and getting home from the airport at 2am is very tiring. But unfortunately that is what my circumstances were today. It didn’t dawn on me that I was behind on homework assignment until I was physically in the line at Dutch Bros waiting to order my coffee. But, with a quick stroke of genius I remembered the cold brew and I also remembered I had a full stamp card. The main problem that I face with the cold brew is the fact that it is so expensive. That being said, I save all of my stamp cards for my times of need, like today.

The taste of cold brew is something a little different. It is slightly creamier than what I would normally expect from coffee, which isn’t a problem for me personally. As I have only become more of a coffee drinker in the last 2-3 years of college, the creamier taste is something that I quite enjoy. But I know a lot of people love the taste of coffee and this may not be the drink for them. Another thing I like about it is that it has barely any calories, which of course makes us all feel a little better about ourselves. And, to top it all off, it has so much caffeine in it that this blog post has taken me about 1 minute to write.

For those of you who need a kick start to your day, or those of you who are loaded up on homework, have midterms or any type of exam I would definitely suggest you try a cold brew. I would give it 5 stars. Mainly because it is something that I don’t get to enjoy on a daily basis, but also helps me out in my times of need. But, some words of advice, save up on your stamp cards so you don’t have to spend #$5 on a drink!

double shot vanilla latte.

Double shot vanilla latte. The latte. When you think of a latte the first thing that comes to mind is the #froth on the top, and how warm it is when you take your first sip. The warmness of your first sip is something that warms the body immediately and starts off your day nicely.

Week 4. The week where things get a little more stressful. Maybe the week before a big midterm, or the start of a new project. All things that make you think “maybe I should get an extra shot in my coffee today”. So that’s exactly what I did. The vanilla latte with an #extrashot was my choice of drink this morning. Along with that, the morning was cold and misty and that along with my double vanilla latte went perfectly together. No sugar free this time. The warmth of the #latte helped me through the cold morning but also made me overheat very easily – as a lot of hot drinks do. I also only went with a small but it still was the perfect size of what I needed. The problem with latte’s though is the fact that they are mainly milk. Personally, this doesn’t always sit well in my stomach, even though I enjoy the taste of it so much.

With these factors in mind, it was hard for me to rate this out of 5. Despite troubles with rating the drink, I could give it a solid 4 stars! It ticked a lot of boxes for me. The warmth it gave me on the way to class, and the taste of it really impressed me. As well as that, the extra shot wasn’t really something that made a lot of difference to the drink, taste wise. But, the latte I would say is more for the people who aren’t too keen on the taste of coffee itself. This is definitely a drink I would suggest to friends if it was a colder day outside, and they were looking for something more sweet!

Monday americano

To start off my Monday and week 3 of school i have decided to take the safe route and go with my usual medium iced #americano with an extra shot and sugar free vanilla, from Dutch Bros. I tend to always get room with my ice americano’s so that i can pour my perfect amount of cream and watch the two blend creating the cloud like image, signalling the start of my day. My choice of sugar free? just trying to keep the calories to a minimum, since this is a regular drink for me. Though you can’t always be safe with the sugar free option. I have tried a few different sugar free flavors and not all of them have turned out nicely. Hazelnut is definitely a good one, not really a lot of difference but caramel on the other hand is something to avoid. Since caramel is made mainly out of sugar, the sugar free component really takes away the taste of any sort of caramel. It tastes like something burned and unfortunately not something you want to taste for the duration of a medium sized drink. That being said, this is me and you may like the #taste of the sugar free caramel, or any other #flavor for that matter. With regards to rating this out of 5, it definitely gets a 5 from me! A safe drink to get if your not really sure or you don’t have a usual drink of your own.

Welcome!

The main point of this blog is to discuss the quality and likability of the coffee around Corvallis – preferably on or close to campus. The main coffee shop i go to is Dutch Bros, mainly because it is the closest one to my house. Every week for 8 weeks, i will try a completely new coffee that is offered and let you all know the conclusion i come to. Each coffee will be scored on a scale from 1 to 5 stars as the general judgement. The look of each one will also be rated from 1 to 5, along with the sweetness and strength of coffee in each. All comments and suggestions each week will be appreciated.

Hello!

Welcome to my blog! My name is Emma Jones and this blog is about coffee. Although i am not the most professional of coffee drinkers, I tend to hang out in coffee shops while studying. So pretty much most of my days! Enjoy!
