Hello All,
For my blog this week I will be talking about the learning material I found most interesting this week about recruitment. One of the first things we talked about is the differences and what some of the pros and cons are for internal hiring versus external hiring. The advantages of internal hiring are things like lower cost, knowledge of appliances, and job satisfaction. The benefits of external hiring are that it increases diversity and also it introduces new ideas which is also very important. This week we also talked about the importance of taking a strategic perspective to recruiting. This is important because with a good strategy employee management activities can take less time which as we know saves money. In doing this it is important to choose your objectives, always know what you are looking for, find the right sources and methods for your recruiting, make a standard recruitment message, create a specific team meant for recruitment with the right people you want to be the face of the company, and always making sure to measure your recruitment and its success. Another very important part of recruiting is record keeping. The company must keep resumes and applications according to the law. Another regulatory issue is affirmative action which includes action from the employers to documenting recruitment activities and also indicating what they are advertising. These are some of the highlights from this weeks learning materials about recruiting and I hope all of my readers enjoy hearing about what I learned! Thanks for reading!
