Jobs, jobs, jobs…  February 20th, 2008

One of the most exciting parts of this program is the graduating part! After a year and half at OSU, I am saddened by the idea of leaving. However, I have to say that suddenly being an employable person is both a surprise and a pleasure. I have heard rave reviews about the placement of graduates post the CSSA program, but this did not prepare me for the amount of interest people have taken in my online resume and in setting up interviews for the Placement Exchange at the National NASPA conference.

Originally, the idea of flying to Boston to interview at schools from everywhere but the east coast seemed somewhat backwards. The reality though of the practicality of a large placement exchange is slowly sinking in. Every day is exciting as I open my inbox to find a new employer wanting to interview me. How exciting is it to be sought out by potential employers?? This must be why last year’s graduating class looked so distracted at this time of the year. The daydreams and hopes as to where we will land is sometimes all consuming. It is times like this that I have to remember that attending class and finishing my thesis are really the next steps to graduating. :)
