And that’s how the term ends… November 29th, 2007
Ahh…. The end of November. A time of colds, papers and finals. I’m happy to say that I have yet to catch cold and my IRB process for my thesis has been passed through. I’m now in what may be the best part of the thesis process: collecting data. Interviewing people is a strange thing to do at first, but I’m getting the hang of it and will be completing the first phase of research this next week. Now I’m just busy balancing all of the tasks on my plate.
A tip to the wise – get a planner. Now. In my undergraduate experience I had a planner, but rarely used it. Since being in grad school, I can not imagine life without my 6x8inch book that follows me everywhere like a watchful puppy. When everything in your life suddenly multiplies by 3 at the end of the term, writing your appointments down becomes mandatory. For those of us less organized folks, it takes some getting used to. By this point my daily task list even includes needed commands like “eat” and “go to sleep… you’ll work better in the morning”.
Keeping your sanity during times of stress does not require superhuman powers, just a clear mind and a well organized date book.
