The RFP for the new Business Intelligence software tool has closed. Purchasing is doing the initial review and the Review Committee will be tackling the reviews. At first count, there were 12 respondents, which we hope means we will have a good selection. We hope to complete our first round of review by the first week of September. If needed, we will contact the top vendors for Round 2.
The Business Intelligence Reporting Software Solution request for proposal (RFP) posted to the OUS Business Opportunities page on Thursday, July 11, 2013, with a submission deadline of Thursday, August 15th. The proposals received will undergo extensive review by Oregon State University subject matter and technical experts. The review process may include product demonstrations and hands-on use by experienced BI Query users. The evaluation and subsequent feedback are important to the procurement of a system which is financially and developmentally sustainable over time.
The Livelink/BI Query tool currently in use at OSU is anticipated to sunset in late 2015. Some of the reasons for moving away from the current product are:
- Requires installation on the user’s/administrator’s computer and has no mobile device/tablet support
- Extensive programming to develop and maintain data warehouse tables
- Extensive effort to build and maintain the models for user query access
- Data is stored in “silos” and is not integrate-able
- Does not have single secure sign on capability or integration with a portal
The RFP includes many requirements for compatibility with 21st century technology such as web-based/access from anywhere capability, integrates with portals and secure single sign on, reports, charts and graphs which are accessible using mobile devices or tablets, user-friendly tool for developing ad hoc queries and reports, ability to create dashboards and scorecards for use by management, and more.
