Dr. Bernard Séguin presents seminar at Knight Cancer Institute

May 9th, 2011

Bernard Séguin, DVMBernard Séguin, DVM, DACVS, Associate Professor of Small Animal Surgery/Surgical Oncology at Oregon State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, visited Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) on Tuesday, May 3, to give a presentation on “Why Treating Man’s Best Friend Benefits Everyone – The Osteosarcoma Story.” The seminar took place in the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Vey Auditorium.

Dr. Séguin was invited by Dr. Charles Keller, Leader of the Pediatric Cancer Biology Program at OHSU. Dr. Keller and Séguin are collaborating to further the treatment of osteosarcoma in dogs and people. The seminar was also sponsored by the Scott Carter Foundation whose goal is to find a cure for osteosarcoma.

The Knight Cancer Institute seminar series, co-sponsored by the Pediatric Cancer Biology program, brings leading extramural scientists to OHSU to present on fundamental science and translational research topics. By addressing both the bench and bedside, organizers of the series hope to have strong attendance by both basic science and clinical researchers/clinicians.
