The fire sprinklers in Research Way Labs Building will be shut down June 9, 2021 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm while repairs are performed to the backflow prevention system.  Pull stations and smoke detectors will still be operational and so will horns/pulls.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, workers will be pressure testing the coil for the cooling tower outside north of the building. This affects heat and cooling for the building. Temperatures are forecasted to be cool on the day of the scheduled work to avoid allowing the building to get too warm.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, a water source heat pump above the ceiling at lobby 2000 will be replaced. Work is scheduled to begin on Friday Oct. 23, 2020 through Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020. Work will take place on the second floor of the building.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, the fire sprinkler system at the Research Way Lab Building needs to be shutdown to repair a leaking sprinkler head on the second floor in Open Office area room #2180. The location of the work is toward the west end of 2180 and will not impact any of the offices or office cubicles.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, a final crane pick is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2020 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. This pick minimally impacts current building tenants. We will coordinate with subcontractors and tenants in the building to ensure the safety of all workers during the pick. This pick will affect the Keck Lab for a very short period of time while we set an exhaust fan on the roof. Lab occupants will be asked to step outside the building while the crane is operating overhead for about 15 minutes. There will be no interruption to the SIGA office space for this crane pick. We will be picking from the north/east corner of the building at the loading dock.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, new fire alarm system horns, strobes, actuators and controls for dampers will be tested. Fire alarm testing will take place on Friday, June 26, 2020, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., intermittently.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, domestic water tie-ins will be completed. Work will take place from 3:30 p.m., Thursday, June 11, to 12 a.m., Friday, June 12, 2020.

There will be no domestic water available during this time at the Research Way Lab Building. (Buckets of water to flush toilets will be provided during this timeframe). The building’s fire sprinkler system will remain online.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, a planned shutdown of the natural gas that currently serves the boiler room and two roof top units at the Research Way Lab Building will occur. The RTU’s are: RAC-3 provides heating and cooling to Lab 2038 area and will not affect any current occupants. RAC-5 provides heating and cooling to Lab 1169/1169A. With the warmer temperatures, this may not be an issue, but we do have a temporary work around for heating these spaces, should it be needed. This system should only be out of service on the heating side for approximately 2 hours on the day the subcontractor does the swap for this unit. The contractor will keep the 1169/1169A occupants informed on timing.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, the HVAC heat pump system will be shut down in order to upgrade existing equipment, install new equipment and commission the entire building system. This work affects the cooling and heating of building spaces. There will be no heating or cooling throughout the building for this duration. Temporary accommodations have been made for current building tenants, SIGA and the Keck Lab / CEOAS.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building renovation project, on Monday, May 4, 2020, the electrical sub-contractor, EC, will be shutting down the fire alarm panel from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., to re-route the existing fire alarm to make room for the new panel. Andersen Construction will be providing fire watch throughout the building during this period. Occupants will be notified once the existing system is back online.
