Each year Facilities Services performs necessary maintenance on the university’s steam system, which requires shutting off the steam throughout campus, to complete maintenance services at the plant, throughout the steam tunnels and in each building.  This process affects hot water supply, heating, and all equipment that uses steam, campus wide.  The steam shutdown for 2020 will occur June 14th 6:00 pm – June 18th, 2020 5:00 pm.

Domestic water and fire line will be out of service from 8 a.m., Thursday, March 26 to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 29. Water will be turned on sooner if possible. The sidewalk and roadway will be closed from 7 a.m., Wednesday March 25 to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2020. Northbound traffic will be shifted around the work. Flaggers may be utilized if necessary.

The manholes along May Avenue will be repaired and the asphalt will be replaced between Arnold Dining Center and the Beth Ray Center for Academic Support. May Avenue will be completely closed to all traffic during this work on Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

Work is scheduled to take place along SW 30th Street and Washington Way for repairs associated with a campus steam vault. Southbound SW 30th Street will be closed from 6 a.m. on Monday, March 23 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, and again from 6 a.m. on Monday, March 30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31.

The fume hoods in Linus Pauling Science Center will be shut down for repairs to replace several failed motors in the exhaust fan system and cleaning of the plenum.  Maintenance work on the lab exhaust fan system will be from March 24 6:00 am – March 25, 2020 5:00 pm.  All fume hoods will have low flow so they will be inoperable during this time.

As part of the LaSells Stewart Center fire line back flow replacement work, a planned sidewalk closure in front of the LaSells Stewart Center along SW 26th Street is scheduled to occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Monday, March 9, 2020. Traffic will be shifted around the work area.
