Challenges

The challenges associated with preserving and evolving a job description are being raised as current employment rates and hiring are down, as well as the wide variety of careers being invented now. For me, this means starting my college degree thinking I am going to be receiving a Bachelor of Science in Management, to graduating with a B.S. in Organizational Leadership. This affected how I view the way I see my studies tremendously, and I believe it will have an impact on applying for future jobs. It is vital to keep descriptions up to date, and even though the two titles technically have the same requirements to graduate, they have two completely different meanings. The issue with this is that there are not a lot of other places that are adjusting to the same description, and I’m not sure how innovative the people who will hire me in the future will be. This leads to the other challenge that needs to be addressed, which is how job descriptions align with the vision of the company. Maybe I could use it to my advantage in the future, and change my resume based on the type of environment that best fits the description of the title. Management focuses on driving and motivating people for long-term goals. Bringing forth a more emotionally intelligent background. Meanwhile, management is defined as overseeing processes and controlling situations to maintain short-term goals. This could benefit me more when I’m applying to jobs right after college because it’s more universally known, and I could switch later in my career when I have more professional experience.
