Tip: Time Management

Between your classes, jobs, and family, it can be very difficult to find the time to get everything done that you need to do.  Time to relax? We wish!

By making small adjustments to your everyday schedule, you can gradually find ways to make the most of your time.  These things take practice, so don’t give up if it doesn’t work the first few times.  Adjust the recommendations below to fit your workflows.

  • develop a pre-bedtime and wake-up routine to get off to a good start each day

Pomodoro Technique

  • tackle your to-do list in small chunks of time (20 – 40 minutes)
  • remove distractions like cell phones, facebook, email
  • use a kitchen timer
  • take regular short breaks (5 – 10 minutes)
  • add all this together and it’ll be much easier to stay focused
  • online timers:  Timer Tab or Tomato Timer
  • task manager app for iPhone / iPad:  30/30

Google Calendar

  • use the “add reminders” feature to give yourself a heads-up about events and assignments
  • schedule yourself one hour each week to review your calendar for upcoming deadlines and prepare for your week
