COCC Barber Library on a sunny day

Using the Library

Level 1: General Search

If you’re just starting out with a topic and your ideas are still a bit fuzzy, try using 1Search — this searches across the library’s books, e-books, videos, journals, and many article databases.

A handy overview video:

Another place to start a general search is Google Scholar. If you find interesting sources there, see Level 3: Journals for getting access to the articles from OSU Library’s subscriptions.

Level 2: Databases

When you want to get more specific with your topic, or find more specialized sources, try a database.  You can check out the big list, browse through subjects, or take a peek at the class guides.

Level 3: Journals

Now you’re approaching expert status.  If you know exactly which journal or article you want, find it here.  Or you can browse through our journal titles for subjects that interest you, such as business, education, yoga, or equine therapy.  Change the drop down that says “Title starts with” to “Title contains…”.  Give it a try.

Found an article that we don’t have at OSU? Have no fear!  You can still request that article from Interlibrary Loan.
