According to Fortune, the best companies in the world have great HR practice and management. One of these great companies is Ultimate Software.
Ultimate Software is considered the second best company to work for in the world and is based out of Weston, Florida. What makes Ultimate Software one of the best companies is their diversity in age, long tenured and loyal employees and a high 97% of employees enjoy working there and the culture. All of these factors are what we learned in our lectures and these reflect great HR practices such as employee retention, diversity, and benefits.
Another successful company to observe is The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated. One of the other topics we learned about in lectures was how HR focuses on people and how they matter. According to The Cheesecake Factory employees, the majority of employees wrote that the people is what makes Cheesecake a great company. This results from properly implemented HR departments.
The final company to observe is Kimley-Horn and Associates. What the employees from this company say is that they have amazing benefits and a flexible work schedule. We touched on during lecture how there is changing context with HR management and one of these changes was where the workplace may be and by having a flexible schedule Kimley-Horn’s HR team has probably adapted to these changes by being flexible with where employees may work.
As a manager, I would want to be a manager for the people in a way where the employees truly enjoy coming to work everyday and feel appreciated. I would focus on HR management of analytics, making the workplace feel smaller as stated in readings, and also foster a culture of diversity and employee benefits. The most challenging aspect of being a manager might be navigating the changing context of HRM such as working virtually and keeping up with the fast pace of changing technology.
