Some human non-infectious diseases that pops up in my head is Asthma, Alzheimer’s Disease, and cancer. I think I found some difficulty thinking of some non-infectious diseases at first because I can name some, although I had to sit back and think about if they are influenced by microorganisms. I felt like I actually didn’t know that much about microbes, only that pathogens cause diseases and stuff like that, so I started to Google information about them, and one thing I found was that there are many microbes that are helpful to humans. It turns out that a great deal of them play a role in immune system defense. They also play a role in digestion and fermenting food, which must be why the average healthy human can stay slim, as they have 10 times as many microbes than normal. And apparently babies that are born via C-section wil have very different microbes than babies born the old-fashioned way since babies born vaginally will be colonized with microbes from their mother, along with substances that aid in the digestion of milk.
