Eating Healthy on a Budget

This academic year, the OSU community is really embracing the Be Well message. “Be Active; Eat Healthy; Manage Stress and Smoke-Free OSU”. Using the simplest, most versatile ways to practice healthy habits can help stay consistent while switching gears during the holidays or into a new term. How can we become more involved with our health? What are even the tiniest things you already do to maintain healthy habits?

Just add in a healthy habit here and there; whenever you think of it. Have an extra glass of water today. Eat another helping of veggies here and there. Take the stairs. Get one extra hour of sleep over a week or so. Bike to work once more this week. Smile as soon as you wake up. Be happy you’ve treated yourself so good. Fully appreciate your efforts; and you might just do it again.

February’s theme at OSU is specifically Eating Healthy. How do you manage to eat healthy with a tight schedule? How can we follow through on new year’s resolutions about our diets?

This Tuesday, 2/7, the program ‘Eating Healthy on a Budget’ will take place at the OSU Women’s Center from 5-6:30pm.The event will begin with a facilitated group discussion to share experiences and and identify barriers to eating the way our bodies want us to. Then, a representative from HSRC, the OSU Extension and the Health and Human Sciences department will present on where to find the best foods on campus and how to utilize resources.

Brown bag snack packs will be provided to demonstrate healthy budget eating.
