Taratula et al. received a 5-year $2.3 million R01 grant!

Dr. Oleh Taratula, an associate professor of Nanotherapeutics in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences based on our Portland campus, received a 5-year, $2.3 million R01 grant from the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health. Dr. Taratula’s project, “Novel Nanomedicine-Based Therapeutic Approach For Treatment of Cancer Cachexia,” is to develop a treatment for the weight loss and muscle wasting that often accompanies advanced cancer and hastens death. Dr. Taratula is principal investigator on this project in collaboration with Dr. Daniel Marks, a physician-scientist at Oregon Health & Sciences University who specializes in treating pediatric cachexia.
