OSU Meningococcal B Mass Vaccination Clinic

Victoria Li, P4 OSU/OHSU College of Pharmacy

In response to a third confirmed case of an OSU student contracting Meningococcal B within the last four months, Oregon State University hosted an on-campus meningococcal mass vaccination clinic at McAlexander Fieldhouse on March 8-9, 2017. University officials encouraged all students age 25 and under to get vaccinated, especially those who live in on campus housing, greek life, or in private co-ops.  Over the two day event, more than 1,800 people were vaccinated by volunteers from throughout the community. Volunteers included 33 Pharmacists and 11 Pharmacy Technicians from Good Samaritan, Albertsons-Safeway, and Student Health Services, as well as many of our generous alumni and 68 OSU College of Pharmacy P1, P2, P3, and P4 interns who donated their time to assist in the clinic. The event was coordinated by Dr. Jennifer Davis, Director of Pharmacy at OSU Student Health Services. Future mass vaccination clinics are currently being scheduled for next week and two more to be held in mid to late April.
