Kathy Ketchum (’82)

Kathy Ketchum is a 1982 graduate of the Oregon State University College of Pharmacy. After receiving her BS in Pharmacy from OSU, she went on to receive a Masters of Public Health Administration (MPhA) from Portland State University.

Ketchum joined the OSU College of Pharmacy in 1997 as Manager for the College’s Drug Use Research and Management (DURM) program handling, DURM’s contract with the Oregon Medicaid program. During her tenure, she developed and implemented many programs and policies that have improved the quality and cost-effectiveness of pharmaceutical use for the Medicaid program. Her efforts have saved the state and taxpayers millions and she has played a leading role in the success and growth of the DURM program for the College of Pharmacy.

For the past five years, Kathy has served as Director of Program Evaluation for DURM and has taught two courses in the evidence-based medicine (EBM) sequence in the OSU Doctor of Pharmacy program. These two courses focus on developing drug information skills and critical appraisal of the medical literature. She has been highly effective in mentoring students, helping them develop essential EBM skills. She has been very active in Oregon Society of Health-system Pharmacists (OSHP), and served as president of the American Drug Use Review Society (ADURS).

Kathy has been a highly respected and valued member of the College and has made a tremendous impact on the State of Oregon and OSU|OHSU College of Pharmacy. We thank her for her 19 years of dedicated service, and wish her the best in retirement.
