2nd Annual Breakin’ Down the MU Event A Success

On a recent blustery Friday evening, January 11th, the students of the College’s Entrepreneurial Academy and NCPA chapter planned and executed the second annual “Breakin’ Down the MU – Dancing Towards Personal Health” featuring a health fair run by pharmacy students followed by a break dance competition.

To kick-off the evening, student pharmacists invited guests to get their medication questions answered, learn more about the Pharmacy profession, and receive free immunizations, blood pressure screenings, and blood glucose screenings.  In all, Operation Immunization gave 2 immunizations, Operation Heart reported 65 blood pressure screenings, Operation Diabetes gave 55 blood glucose screenings, and MTM participated in a total of 36 management talks and inquiries.  A special thank you to all the preceptors who assisted in making the health fair possible including alums Kevin Russell (’93) and Michele Belcher (’86), as well as faculty members Shannon Starwalt and Roberto Linares!

Following the health fair, the second half of the evening featured a break dance competition showcasing talented dancers from within the OSU community and as far away as Canada.

With more than 400 guests in attendance throughout the night and total profit exceeding $2,000 to benefit the student Executive Council activities and outreaches, “Breakin’ Down the MU2” was an undisputed success!  Thank you to all those who made it possible including College of Pharmacy Icon of Pharmacy and Entrepreneurial Academy Advisor Vince Whiting for his generous support and P2 event organizer Mike Sisson!
