Our College Access Coaches are made up of OSU student volunteers dedicated to creating equitable college access learning opportunities for Oregon’s youth. Coaches can Skype into classrooms in pairs or by themselves, sometimes even reconnecting with grade schools they’ve previously attended.

Christina Bui

Christina is a senior majoring in Biology. Her goal is to attend medical school, specialize in pediatrics, and subspecialize in neonatology.  She is the president of Mortar Board Senior National Honor Society, a Learning Assistant for the Biochemistry Department and teaching intern for Biology labs. She is also the College of Science Ambassador, mentor for first-year biology and University University Honors College students, and an academic tutor, mentor, and facilitator with the Academics for Student Athletes. Her favorite hobby is hiking and favorite quote is, “Noting will work unless you do” by Maya Angelou, because it reminder her to keep working and to never settle for less. Christina become a college access coach because she knows how hard it is for students to have resources for college, especially in underserved areas, and wanted for them to have someone to have their questions answered and know that we are rooting for them whether or not they decide to attend college.

Keanah De Leon Guerrero

Keanah is a junior majoring in Cultural Anthropology. She is currently a Resident Assistant and is part of the Alpha Pi Omega Sorority, Inc.

Theresa Dinh

Theresa is a junior studying Biology. She is involved with the Blood Drive Association, volunteers with Event Medical Services, and does research in Biophysics lab on campus. She is also a Integrative Biology Mentor and member of the Adventure Leadership Institute.

Sabrina Gadbury

Sabrina is a senior majoring in BioResource Research and Pre-Medicine. She currently works for the PreCollege Programs and is doing research in a Nano-toxicology lab on campus. She is also apart of the Pre-Medicine club and volunteers at a local free medical clinic.

Thomas Hellman

Thomas is a super senior majoring in Political Science. He is a practicing and registered member of the Corvallis Rugby Club.

Megan Huber

Megan is a senior studying Microbiology and is in the Honors program.  Besides school, she competes and is the vice president of the OSU Gymnastics Club. She is also a research assistant at the Applied Mycology Lab at OSU.

Kadie Kakumitsu

Kadie is a junior majoring in Psychology with a Sociology minor. She wants to become a clinical psychologist. She is a member of Active Minds Club and the CAPS Advisory Board. Her favorite hobby is singing and working out. Kadie’s favorite quote is, “Everything happens for a reason,” because she believes that everything that happens in life is meant to teach us something. Kadie become a college access coach to get students excited about attending college.

Joseph Le

Joseph is a senior studying Biology Education. He currently does Precollege tours and mobile summer camps.

Mai Le

Mai is a junior majoring in Biochemistry and Biophysics. She works as a lab assistant in a research lab within the College of Pharmacy and volunteers with the Multiple Sclerosis Program at OSU.

Vu Le

Vu is a senior majoring in Biology and Education. He currently works as a student technician at Community Network.

Aimee Miller

Aimee is a junior majoring in Public Health. She is a current member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, as well as involved with the Honors College here at Oregon State and the Blood Drive Association and Public Health Club. This school year she will be the Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator Assistant for the Health Youth Program within the Linus Pauling Institute.

Iva Murphree

Iva is a junior majoring in Business. She works on a part-time job at Applegate, LLC, whcih is a foster home for adults with developmental disabilities.

Lupita Nuñez

Lupita is a junior studying BioHealth Sciences. She is currently involved in Adelante en Acción, volunteers in the Independence Public Library and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She currently works at Legacy Oaks Apartments as a Leasing Consultant. In her free time she teaches students how to play piano and guitar. She also play volleyball, run, and goes to zumba classes.

Shaylin Pfarr

Shaylin is a junior studying Chemical Engineering. She is a Pre-college programs representative and College of Engineering Ambassador. She is also a member of Engineers without Boarders and CBEE Club.

Gina Phipps

Gina is a senior majoring in computer science at OSU.

Margaret Preston

Margaret is a junior at OSU. She is involved with the women’s water polo club.

Scott Reichelt

Scott is a junior majoring in English at OSU.

Amanda Reiter

Amanda is a senior majoring in Chemical Engineering. She is an officer in the Chemical, Biological, and Environmental Engineering Student Club and is a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society. She also plays on Oregon State’s Women’s Club soccer team.

Alex Ruiz

Alex is a sophomore majoring in Construction Engineering Management. He is involved in the Louis Stoke Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program, OSU STEM leaders program, the M.E.Ch.A (Movimineto Estudiantil Chican@ de Aztlan), and works at the College of Agricultural Sciences Academic Program Office in Strand Agricultural Hall.

Lauren Reyes

Lauren is a sophomore studying Bioengineering at OSU.

Lucy Shaffer

Lucy is a junior majoring in Bioresource Research and Pre-med. She currently is working on an on-going thesis project and has a part-time job.

Vinayaka Thompson

Vinayaka is a sophomore studying computer science. He is involved in the Solar Car Team and Orange Media.

Brenda Villanueva

Brenda is a sophomore majoring in BioResource Research. She is currently a research assistant at the horticulture and plant pathology laboratory on the OSU campus. She is also in the SACNAS chapter, the OSU pre-med Society and MAPS.

Naderah Zarei

Naderah is a sophomore majoring in BioHealth Sciences (Pre-Pharmacy) with a minor in Public Health. She is currently involved with multiple extracurricular activities at OSU. She is secretary and event coordinator of the BioHealth Sciences Club and member of the Pre-Pharmacy Society. She is also a STEM Leader and an LSAMP Scholar.
