Emily Pickering
This summer, Oregon State freshman Emily Pickering will travel to Lee Stocking Island, Bahamas, to study lionfish as a member of zoologist Mark Hixon’s team. Pickering, a University Honors College student, is the first freshman ever to accompany Hixon and his group to the tiny island, where they will spend much of their summer underwater, surveying the invasive lionfish and their effect on coral reefs.
