The Case for Recruitment & Selection

MGMT 448 – Ashley

I believe that organizations decide to allocate more resources toward marketing or product design because through these two channels, a great effort in these organizational departments can attract customers. When an organization has superior marketing or product design for their products, this will attract consumers and broaden their brand, increasing revenue and allowing for the organization to keep growing. Additionally, when this effort attracts customers, it will attract employees as well. Good brand and organization publicity will increase the desire for those who are job searching to land a role in a robust and innovative organization. Therefore by focusing more company resources on marketing and product design, this will drive up revenue, brand awareness, as well as an ever-growing customer base, which results in attracting employees regardless. This allows for the benefits to overflow into the employee recruitment department.

Potential strengths of an organization who does not prioritize recruitment and selection but focuses on other aspects of the business would make the company one that is more likely to be focused on expanding the customer base through connecting with them and building that brand loyalty. This would be the more efficient method in attracting a customer base in a shorter period of time. Potential weaknesses in not prioritizing recruitment and selection would be the uncertainty surrounding the quality of employees. Employees are the ones who keep the organization thriving, and due to the lowered budget on the process of recruiting employees who fit the brand and selecting the best employees from the others will jeopardize the quality of work. Although maintaining good marketing will attract employees, it does not guarantee that they will be the best fit.
